Evernight Birthday Hop! #BDayBashHop

Celebrate like a ROCK STAR because Evernight Publishing is THREE!

In three short years, Evernight has grown by leaps and bounds thanks to readers like you! Evernight is pulling out all the stops and throwing an extreme BIRTHDAY BASH BLOG HOP in your honor!

That’s right! It’s Evernight’s birthday but YOU get the presents…

Prizes include:
Samsung Galaxy Tab
Kindle Paperwhite
Kobo Touch
$100 Evernight and Amazon Gift Certificates
Mega Evernight Swag Pack
Plus, each author on the hop will offer his/her own special prize!

I'm honored to be part of this year's birthday hop. Aside from being a great group to work with Evernight will always hold a special place in my heart. I struggled at the beginning of this year, trying to decide to if I should take the leap and submit my latest book, Persuasion Skills to publishers. After months of nail biting and second guessing, I pressed that "Send" button and the rest is history. Evernight became my first publisher and I haven't regretted the decision to publish with them.

What makes Evernight so amazing, isn't just the variety of romance sun-genres or great authors (who I adore), its the community they've fostered with both the readers and authors. I love how as both an author and reader of all the Evernight lines, that I can interact so easily with other readers and share the love and enjoyment the romance genre.

The Evernight Reader group on Facebook is just plain fantastic. And the Twitter feeds always put a smile on my face and yes, they also tend to add another book to my tbr pile :).

As I mentioned above Evernight published my second book, Persuasion Skills earlier this summer. So since it's rude not to bring gofts to a birthday bash...

I'll be providing a $25 Amazon Gift Card as my own prize to all of the Evernight followers and readers that have made my books a success this year.

To win? Just place a comment below telling me your favorite thing about friends-to-lovers romances. What do you love or hate about them? Be sure to include your email address so that I can send you your prize if your comment is selected as the winner. Good luck!

Persuasion Skills by Laurel Cremant
In the aftermath of a major health scare, Pepper Holts makes the relief-inspired decision to seize the day. Unfortunately, most of her “seizing” involves a bit of merlot and her best friend's pants! After a shared night of passion she realizes that her feelings for Jax are a lot more complicated than she ever thought.

Jax has finally realized that his allergy to marriage has nothing to do with the institution itself, and everything to do with the women in his bed—or more specifically, the one woman not in his bed. Her reaction to their one night together has him scrambling to regroup. So he does what he knows best—he disappears, and he thinks. The plan?—convince Pepper into staying with him at a secluded cabin for one week. One week of pretending to be a happily married couple to show her how great they could be together.

  1. I love the realization in friends to lovers stories. The uncertainty & then the acceptance.

  2. My favorite part of friends-to-lovers books is that a good author can take you right along with the characters as they struggle to reconcile their mindset to change from "friend" to "I can't stand just being a friend anymore!". What I don't like about them is when the author rushes that process and in 2 pages everything has changed & no one blinks. Thank you, Laurel, for NOT doing that with Pepper & Jax :) !!

    1. Aww, thanks. I'm so glad you enjoyed the book. Pepper and Jax were definitely a fun couple to bring together :)

  3. My favorite part about friends to lovers books is that friends usually already know the worst about each other, the downfall though is if the relationship doesn't work out, a friendship is usually ruined.

    1. So true. The great thing about this trope within the romance genre is knowing that a happily ever after results.

  4. Friends-to-lovers is so much fun because there's already this wonderful connection, this love and caring that makes the time when it turns into romance that much deeper.

Thanks for being part of the hop, Laurel!

  5. You asked: Tell me your favorite thing about friends-to-lovers romances. What do you love or hate about them?

I like the familiarity of the relationship. I love following the journey they take when they step over the so called "line" When you have a close friendship you know so much about the other person that you discount a love connection until it hits you over the head.. It's also fascinating to watch when love is one sided . As a reader looking on, you can see how perfect they are for each other so you start routing for them! You also have to stop yourself from going to read the last chapter. :-)

Laurel, thanks for the opportunity to share.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Belinda :) I cut my teeth on Harlequins growing up and admit to skipping ahead a few chapters (more than once). I just always wanted (and still do) make sure all of the conflicts and obstacles cleared up nicely.

  6. Hi Ms. Laurel,

The most thing I love about friends to lovers romances is that you really get to know that person. Which in turn is a beautiful thing. You get to know the person as well on the inside as you do on the outside. The only thing I hate about this type of romance is that you have to watch that special someone go through changes with others before you finally realize that you two belong together and are perfect soulmates. stephaniebartley1@aol.com

    1. Hi Stephanie, nice to hear from you :) I agree regarding the hurt of seeing the love interest with some one else. But I think it's part of the necessary journey for some people finally see the light. A little pain to experience pleasure I guess.

  7. I love to read about friends to lover romances because they already know each other and how to handle the other person. Also you see the turmoil that they create wondering if it would damage their friendship taking it to the next level.

    1. I agree. As a reader, the turmoil factor is always a great emotional driver, but I admit to getting pensive and worried even though I know a happy ending is coming. I always worry about the hurt the characters will suffer along the way.

  8. I love the couple's rapport, and that special feeling that they're suited for each other. I hate the often trivial, self-imposed obstacles they place in the way of their love!

    1. I'm a sucker for quick snarky banter. Do you think these types of romances tend to have more of this? And yes the obstacles do suck. My aversion to that was one of the reasons Persuasion Skills is a novella. I just couldn't write two seemingly intelligent characters and have them not be logical.

  11. I love friends to lovers stories. I love the sexual tension between the characters as they realize their feelings for each other.

  12. I love friends to lover stories because the couple knows each first of all, they know their likes and dislikes, things like that...but then the realization that this person they have know for so long is the love of their life...sigh :)
