Welcome to Foreplay Monday! I've been thinking about starting a post highlighting upcoming book releases and book events for authors. It's also a great way to prepare you for the Casual Smex Friday posts ;). So please join me in welcoming author Fiona McGier. She's stopped by today to give us a sneak peek into her upcoming book, Prophecy of the Undead.
Introducing Fiona McGier...
Fiona has always had stories in her head, with characters telling her about their lives. Often she wakes up with entire story arcs that she has to feverishly write down before starting her day. Now that her four children are erudite young adults, she hides from everyone for hours, bringing the stories to life. She hopes that you enjoy your short trip into her mind as you meet some of the heroines and heroes who live there, and now on these pages also.
You can learn more about Fiona and her upcoming book releases via her website and blog at www.fionamcgier.com.

Tell us a little bit about your upcoming release, Prophecy of the Undead. What was your inspiration?
Fiona: Actually it was a couple of dreams. Good dreams, I might add! I dreamed of the heroine and ideas of what happens to her, what she looks like, what her job is, etc. I started to write and got writer's bloc after the second chapter, so I put it away. I had another dream about 6 months later, and a tall, blond, sexy man told me I was having trouble because I was giving her the wrong hero...it had to be him. I asked him why and he smiled, showing vampire teeth. I told him I don't do vampires...too over-done. He laughed and told me to research the Mayans, since I was planning on working the end of the world idea into the book. I discovered how totally saturated with blood were all of the religious rituals...why did the Mayan gods need so much human blood? But then if they were vampires...
Can you give us a little taste of how your hero or heroine would go about foreplay?
Fiona: Yes. The image Yuri projects into Keisha's mind while he is draining her blood to save her life:
She was suddenly on a downy-soft bed, naked, with a man's head between her thighs. His tongue was driving her mad with desire as he alternated between licking her from front to back, then nibbling on her clit gently. When his fingers pulled the hood back and his teeth grazed her clit, she screamed with pleasure as the orgasm crashed through her with the force of a tsunami. She felt herself rise up off of the bed with the tightening of her muscles, then the man loomed before her, spread her thighs uncomfortably wide and his hips surged forward.
If your heroine could describe the one thing they find the sexiest about the hero what would it be?
Fiona: Keisha feels safe with Yuri, and his proclamations of eternal love give her hope for the first time in her life, that someone really loves her the way she's always wanted to be loved. So she finds that extremely sexy.
Yuri finds her intelligence to be a real turn-on. He was fascinated reading her scholarly published works, and intrigued by her picture. When he actually met her he was enthralled and smitten. He also loves her generous curves!
What was your favorite scene/ situation to write?
Fiona: I really enjoyed writing about when the heroine meets and shares blood with some of the oldest vampires the hero knows. I wanted to portray how they exchanged thoughts along with the blood, gaining abilities from each other in the process. I enjoyed thinking about it, I hope the readers will also.
Is there anything else you'd like to tell readers?
Fiona: Please give my book a chance even if you don't like vampire books. I promise I have a new "take" on them!
Hmmm, it sounds like this book will indeed be a scorcher! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. Frankly Ms. McGier had me at neurobiologist. This book will definitely be on my TBR list at the very top. For those of you who need a little more stimulation to get you in the mood here's an excerpt of Prophecy of the Undead for your smexing pleasure...
"Does this mean that when I feed on people I will be killing them? Can I use animals instead?"
Yuri shook his head, "Animals can be used in extreme emergencies, but not on a regular basis. Whatever we are, whatever it is that lives inside of our blood, prefers human blood. I don't know why...that's one of the things I was hoping you would find out for me."
"I don't know how I'm going to research anything anymore. If Dan knew about the plot to kill me, then he's in on it," she looked away and appeared to be concentrating deeply. "In fact, since he's one of the only ones who knew what I had found, he probably knows about what I discovered about my work also. In fact, that may be part of why he was so friendly with me to begin with. Shit! I thought I was just using him for sex, but apparently he was pumping me for information all along."
At Yuri's startled choke she looked at his face and realized he was chuckling again. He shrugged. "Sorry...but that's not all he was pumping you for."
Keisha stuck her tongue out at him, "Ha, ha. Okay, pun unintentional, but acknowledged."
"Keisha, if you don't mind my asking, what had you discovered that made you suddenly so disposable?"
She shifted around on his lap, "Of course I don't mind your asking. You can put me down now. I think I'm done having a panic attack."
He smiled at her, "Are you sure? I kind of like holding you on my lap."
Keisha started as she felt a part of him twitch against her thigh. She looked closely at his face, "We can still have sex? I thought that wasn't possible anymore."
Yuri laughed out loud. "What would be the point of eternal life if you had to give up having sex? Like I said, the longer you are a vampire, the more you discover about what you can still do. Whatever makes us alive wants us to be happy or it can't be alive within us," he shrugged again. "Besides, haven't you read any vampire erotica lately? We're all the rage these days."
